Now one of our regular seasonal ales, we in fact originally brewed Hopton to commemorate the famous Battle of Cheriton of 1644, fought on the fields adjacent to the Brewery, when Waller’s Parliamentarian army helped change the course of the English Civil War by forcing Hopton’s Royalist troops to retreat back to Oxford, leaving open the route to London.
Our session IPA is packed full of British hops; Harlequin, Jester and Olicana, brewed in the traditional Flower Pots style. We add a touch of Wheat and Oats for condition and texture. Hopton is an easy drinking IPA, light and fruity with an exotic aroma with a lingering bitter finish.
